The Body Shop Sheer Lip Colour Review

In this review I will be comparing TBS's Sheer Lip Colour with MAC's Slimshines and listing their pros & cons.
01, Pink is a gorgeous pale pink lip colour (for me anyways!) which has a slight lavender undertone to it (when applied on my lips) and may be compared to MAC's Bare Slimshine because of it's light pink colour and frostiness.
05, Ruby is a sheer Ruby red colour, true to its name! Both lip colours have tiny silver shimmers to it.
The picture below shows the sheer lip colours I had been sent: 01, Pink (left) and 05, Ruby (right).

Pros:
  • Light fruity scent
  • Highly moisturising
  • Lasts longer in comparison to MAC Slimshines
  • Colour can be built up
  • Glides on with ease
  • Lasts long on the lips
  • I love pairing 01, Pink over bright lipsticks to tone them down!
  • 05, Ruby is great for a natural, rosy-lips look
Cons:
  • They are just a normal sheer lipstick in slimshine-esque packaging, whereas slimshines are a mix of a lipgloss & a lipstick
  • Gives a 'lipstick finish' as opposed to a glossy one - which, initially, I wasn't expecting.
  • Not many colours in the range
I honestly can't think of many cons, I would really recommend you guys to try them them out. Here are the skin & lip swatches:

The sheer lip colours are £9 for 2.1g. Below are list of other colours in their range:
  • 02 - Guava
  • 06 - Blush
  • 07 - Sheer caramel
  • and of course 01 - Pink & 05, Ruby
Great products but you don't get much of a choice, I know :(
Other comments:
Would I buy it again? Yes, I will consider purchasing 01, Pink again as MAC have increased their prices on all their products and Bare slimshine now costs £12.50! Good deal here for sure! :D
Would I recommend it? Most definitely! These sheer lip colours are just lipsticks which you can increase the intensity if you wish too. Apart from the lack of colours to choose from I am sure everyone will find a colour for them... I reckon most of you will like 01, Pink as it's a nudy pink so I definitely recommend that you guys check it out! :D

The Body Shop Liquid Lip Colour Review

I've been using this product for over a month now and have now come across all its pros & cons, so here we go! :)
First of all I will talk a bit about their liquid lip colour, the one I received is in 11, Raspberry. The colour is a true reflection to its name! As you can see in the skin swatch below the liquid lip colour most definitely has a liquidy consistency compared to a normal lipgloss - but then again this product is intended to be a liquid lip colour (duh lol).

Pros:
  • Has a GORGEOUS fruity smell to it! Mmm I could keep sniffing this all day :D Apparently this scent is Passion Fruit, yum!
  • Not sticky at all - Feels smooth
  • Wipes of easily - Good thing if I want to get it off, if I put too much on
  • Brush applicator gives plenty of control
  • Gives a 'wet' look as opposed to glossy
  • 8ml, plenty of product to get through!
  • Looks fab. when paired lightly over a lipstick
  • Very pigmented
Cons:
  • Looks as if my lips/mouth is bleeding if I try and layer it on (a lovely comment from my Mum, which I agree with - it's probably just this shade though tbh)
  • Has no stickiness to it - It sort of sits on my lips?!
  • Wipes of easily - Have to reapply if I accidentally brush past something
  • Brush applicator doesn't pick up much colour
  • The shine/wet look sort of fades away quite quickly after a while
The pic below shows my lip swatches: (1st - light coat, 2nd - layered on)

This liquid lip colour is 9.25 for 8ml. They have plenty of other shades, as listed below:
  • 01 - Natural
  • 02 - Golden Coral
  • 04 - Blush Pink
  • 10 - Sunrise Pink
  • 13 - Pale Pink
  • 14 - Bronzed
  • 15 - Fuchsia Flush Pink
  • 16 - Dusky Lavender
  • and of course, 11 - Raspberry
Other comments:
Would I buy it again? Regretfully, I would say I would not repurchase this product, especially in this particular colour. Having said that I probably will check out the other colours in their range when I am at a TBS store, just to see how the others fair.
Would I recommend it? Everyone has different opinions, whether it is the lip gloss' colour or texture etc. Therefore I would advise you to go and check it out for yourselves - even if it's just for the gorgeous smell :p

01/07/2009 - Face Of The Day

To me the weather we've had in England this past week has been unbearably hot and therefore the makeup I had put on reduced drastically as you can see below! & then on Thursday & Friday I was just sporting mascara and lip gloss - very lazy, I know, that's why I didn't take any pics!

Products used:

Eyes:
- Prestige Eyeliner in Rhapsody
- Benefit BadGal Lash Mascara - (perfect for a natural look)
Face:

- Nothing!
Lips:
- MAC Girl About Town lipstick
-
The Body Shop Sheer Lip Colour in 01 Pink
^ I love this lip combo :D

The Body Shop Cocoa Butter Body Butter Review

I have been using this for long enough now so it's time for a review!
TBS Cocoa Butter Body Butter, half finished:

What's in it and what does it do?
The Cocoa Butter body butter contains (stating the obvious here) cocoa butter and Shea butter. TBS say these main ingredients are "an excellent moisturiser that melts at body temperature, leaving the skin feeling soft and silky smooth", which I most definitely agree with! Like their same scented scrub, it is recommended for people with very dry skin. I myself have dry skin and therefore does a brilliant job of moisturising. I feel as if my skin is moisturised for 24+ hours and feels cared for. I honestly love using this body butter, especially after shaving my legs as it really gives that perfect soothing feeling and of course leaves my legs looking super healthy and 'glowing' nicely.

How much and how long?
It's 200ml per tub and it costs £12.20 - However, I got mine for half the price during their sale in April. For some reason they don't have the mini 50ml size for £4.85, like they do with the others in the range, which is a shame because it's always good to try it stuff before you buy it in the full size. I bought this about mid-April and have been using it since. I've now got about 10 uses left (the pic above is an old pic btw) - so a tub will approx. last around 3 months - therefore it's pretty good considering I paid £6.10 for it!

How does it smell?
This smells a bit sweeter than the TBS Cocoa Butter Body Scrub. I do however prefer the sweeter chocolaty smell that the Palmer's Cocoa Butter lotions/body butters have! Apparently this body butter is meant to have the chocolate/vanilla smell but I'm not so sure tbh. Again, I would recommend you guys to get down to the TBS store and sniffing it out yourselves :)

What other 'flavours' do TBS have?
Again, plenty to choose from! Here it is:
  • Vitamin E - All skin types
  • Peach - All skin types
  • Raspberry - Normal skin
  • Pomegranate - Normal skin
  • Wild Cherry - Normal skin
  • Strawberry - Normal skin
  • Satsuma - Normal skin
  • Papaya - Normal skin
  • Pink Grapefruit - Normal skin
  • Coconut - Normal/Dry skin
  • Coconut Shimmer - Normal/Dry skin
  • Olive - Normal/Dry skin
  • Passion Fruit - Normal/Dry skin
  • Moringa - Normal/Dry skin (will double check)
  • Brazil Nut - Dry skin
  • Shea - Very Dry skin
  • Mango - Very Dry skin
  • Hemp - Extremely Dry skin
  • Aloe - Sensitive skin
  • and of course, Cocoa Butter - Very dry skin
Others:
TBS have the majority of the 'flavours' above in a lotion version too.

Other comments:

Would I buy it again? Yes, but only if I catch it during their half price sales. I don't think I can bring myself to buy it at the full price even though I honestly love this stuff! I bought 2 in April so I look forward to another 3/4 months with this body butter then I will be experimenting with the other scents in the range!
Would I recommend it? I most definitely would for people with dry or very dry skin! Others may find this moisturiser a bit greasy (I don't) etc. if your skin type leans towards the normal category.
Another note: I find this a bit too moisturising in this heat/summer for me!
I would also like to mention that this feels like butter, no doubt about it - A good thing in my eyes! Like most products with cocoa butter as its mean ingredient, it helps cuts/scars heal quicker too.
Any other questions? Please feel free to ask :)

Summery Nails!

I had done my nails on Wednesday but have only found the time to take proper pics just now (which turned out awful - lack of sunlight!). Get creative with your nails people :)

Products used:
- Rimmel Nail Rescue (clear)
- Barry M's Nail Paint in Shocking Pink, 272
- Nicka K top coat
* Flower pattern from Nailene Bedazzle Rhinestone Nail Art (sticker)

On a side note my Shocking Pink nail paint is turning slightly gloopy to which JJ26 said:
"Add some nail polish remover to it, it just thins it out and voila no gloop!"

I think I may have heard/read this before but have been too 'scared' to try it out.. But I will now! Thanks for the tip! :) x
